Two days ago, my 3D glasses came in. Why I ordered them? 3D gaming! Basically, I’m now using the Geforce 3D drivers to create anaglyph on-the-run when playing games. It works great, depending on the games. Prototype, for example, is godly in 3D. So is Burnout Paradise and a few others. Some games however, either gain massive framedrops or are entirely unplayable. Ever played Audiosurf in 3D? It looks great, sure. Too bad all the blocks are grey all of the sudden! Try finishing your tracks with a stealth bonus! GTA IV is also playable in 3D, but for some reason it doesn’t have a preset. Which is shit. Especially when you take ten minutes to calibrate the anaglyph depth, and then discover that playing GTA are a lousy 20FPS is not fun at all.

But the main reason I bought these glasses, is the fact that Minecraft will be supporting anaglyph in the September update! 3D blocky madness! Woah! And besides, thanks to eBay, I only spent 3 dollars on this. Two glasses, the retro white ones, including shipment from the UK to Holland.

Pro’s:

  • 3D effect, holy shit
  • Cheap! 3 bucks and a driver update!
  • After setting the 3D driver on the Nvidia Preview setting, its just plug and play! Without a plug!

Con’s:

  • Only for short-term gaming, your eyes can start to hurt after a while
  • Colors can go rather weird
  • besides Nvidia’s 3D driver, there aren’t many other drivers capable of running games in anaglyph mode
